Hitler's Intelligence Chief : Walter Schellenberg ; [the man who kept Germany's secrets]
Reinhard R. Doerries, Gerhard L. WeinbergHitler’s Intelligence Chief is a biographical portrait of SS General Walter Schellenberg during the final months of the Third Reich as he accompanied Heinrich Himmler while attempting to save his own life. Schellenberg was part of the Nazi leadership, although he never was directly involved in killing. In 1945, he negotiated the freeing of twenty thousand concentration camp inmates to Sweden through Count Bernadotte. He was arrested in Denmark and wrote his first memoir, which is reproduced in its entirety in this book, with notes and comments by Reinhard R. Doerries. At Nuremberg, Schellenberg was a witness and then served a six-year sentence. He died in Italy in 1952.
